Dead in America

Fifty-one years and we still see a issue, are country where every man is born equal is still having a issue with true equality. Fifty-one years is  the time that has passed since Martin Luther King wrote and published the "Letter from Birmingham Jail", following his arrest.

Martin Luther King, created this letter when being arrested in  Birmingham while leading  a protest without a permit (ironically African-Americans were not allowed to receive permits). This letter is a response to a newspaper article addressing him, signed by a large group of clergyman. In this letter he explains that the protest was a wise and timely choice. Going into describing the issues and pain experienced by the black community. He also explained why it was meant to happen in Birmingham in the following quote:
I am in Birmingham because injustice is here. Just as the eighth-century prophets left their little villages and carried
their "thus saith the Lord" far beyond the boundaries of their hometowns; and just as the Apostle Paul left his little village of
Tarsus and carried the gospel of Jesus Christ to practically every hamlet and city of the Greco-Roman world, I too am compelled
to carry the gospel of freedom beyond my particular hometown.
He uses rhetoric like ethos, pathos and logos. Evoking emotion when he describes his children's own personality being molded by racism. Speaks of how as a African-American you never truly get your proper salutation. Or explaining the steps to using nonviolent protesting.

And although they no longer beat us with Billy clubs, America is not a country in which we as man are born equal. It is a matter of social class and financial stability. We are in shackles, and are financial ability seems to be the slave owners. Examples of this feeling being expressed is in the following lyrics.

Rich white man rule the nation still, only difference is we all slaves now
The chains concealed in our thoughts... (Runaway, J Cole)

Although black and white is still a man made issue that we continue to beat, knowing we will never really compromise. Our bigger issue is control, a paycheck has taken over us all as a people. We live in a everyone for themselves type of nation, and although we have things like government assistance we still see a struggle.

And in 2015 that is my number one issue as a "civilian".

The wish to make a decent amount of money, so that I do not drown in this world.

Like Martin I too experience the struggles of being black in America, but see my skin can get me killed. In my opinion, but my income or lack of could cause worst. See you have to make a certain amount of money to be heard.

A piece of paper, reinforced by gold has thrown us all into the catergories of a nigga (a negro, a coon, 3/5ths, inferior).
