Is Bigger and Stronger really a good thing

Concussions are becoming more of a topic, because our sports teams are becoming big and stronger than ever. Our President Barack Obama even held a hour long summit addressing the issue sports are having with Concussion.

Here we have a picture of Barack Obama, at the Concussion Summit
Where we see him stressing the point of further research into Youth Concussions
"We have to change a culture that says, 'Suck it up,' - Obama

Concussions have been evolving from being A injury that just might happen when involved in sports, to becoming the topic of a hour long  Presidential Speeches and major Law Suits.

After this speech given in May of 2014, we have seen at least $75 Million Dollars provided for the research of concussions.

Why are they making this such a issue? We have lawsuits on top of lawsuits. According to ESPN "The NFL recently agreed to pay $765 million to settle concussion claims from thousands of former players whose complaints range from headaches to Alzheimer's disease. That settlement is still awaiting a judge's approval, while a group of former professional hockey players has filed a class-action lawsuit of their own against the National Hockey League for head injuries sustained on the ice."

So knowing Concussions are a major issue, I come across Management and Prevention of Sport-Related Concussions by Emily Hanson, Andrea Stracciolini, Rebekah Mannix, and William P. Meehan III.

The article touches subject on how there is a larger increase in concussions.
Stating that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that there is as many as 3.8 million sport-related traumatic brain injuries occurring each year. Also mentioning the incident in 1984 where we have a football player who returned to the sport with some remaining symptoms of concussions. He ends up collapsing and dying, this helps to fight for further research. They discuss the sports in which concussions are common, symptoms of concussions, an actual definition of a concussion , instances in which it happens and how to mange it.

The problem is the lack of information, and to solve that they conduct research and inform to create better understanding of concussions.

The conclusion o the study is that changing the rules of sport, strengthening the
cervical musculature, and teaching the skills necessary for collision anticipation, may help reduce the risk of sport-related concussions. Similarly, concussion education and related legislation may reduce the risk of secondary concussive injuries.

This makes me wonder, what skills can be improved to prevent concussions. But to leave on a interesting not, I want t show you your brain under the influences of a concussion.
