When looking at my major, there is a funny story behind it. Originally I wanted to be a Physical Therapist, but I arrived to Eastern realizing they did not have that as a option. So I started to look into other options. Although there were various options like sports medicine and strength coaching I chose Athletics Training.
This job is described as ..
- Athletic trainers prevent, examine, and treat athletes' injuries.
- Provide physical therapy for athletes who are recovering from injuries and to show athletes how to build their strength and avoid further injury.
- Athletic trainers are employed by schools, colleges, and universities that have athletic programs and sports teams. They also work for professional teams in baseball, football, basketball, ice hockey, and other sports. Some athletic trainers work for health clubs and summer camps
.
My first Url is important because that is the National Association of Athletic Training's Twitter, making their post important. It is where you go to see what major news is surfacing in the athletic training community. From injury maintenance, new findings or things as important as the Athletic Training Hall of Fame.
The second speaks about concussions, a common issue seen in this field. Expectually in contact sports, so I feel following this page will give me a stronger understanding of this injury. It also drifts into athletes injuries and shows some of the top athletic trainers.
Lastly, we have Athletic Training Problems which is something anybody with the major should be interested in. You here about rare injuries and how they handle them. And treatments, which are always interesting to someone who has a interest in sports.
